The Wait

“Our soul waiteth for the lord: he is our help and our shield.” Psalms 33:20

As the nation enters into two weeks of government-initiated social distancing, it’s hard not to wonder what’s next. Both China and Italy have been quarantined with their borders closed for some time now due to the coronavirus outbreak in those countries and we know very little about what is happening on the inside as doctors and scientists scramble in an attempt to find a solution.

All we can do is wait.

Strong’s breaks down the term wait or khakah in Hebrew as “behold /the palm of His hand /to separate.” Reminding us that in this season of earthly chaos and that God is still in control and that he is using this season to separate his chosen ones from the grips of this world.

“And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him” Isaiah 8:17

Isaiah reminds us that our wait is not in boredom or complacency but one that requires action on our part. We must look for Him in this season. The bible states in Deuteronomy 4:29 that if we seek Him we will find Him. in seeking the Lord we prove our belief and reverence of him. It is that reverence, or fear of the Lord, that causes us to respect Him enough to keep him first. If we remain in that place of reverence He will be our refuge and protection. Our secret place.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Hum will trust.”

Psalms 91: 1-2

Our world is changing before our eyes. Life as we know it will probably never be the same, as we watch the media discuss talks of curfews, quarantines, and cancellations amongst political officials. The deployment of the national guard, the closing of schools, and falling stock markets mark only the beginning.

Below are videos showing the early stages of border closings and quarantine in China. I want to share these with you and encourage you to pay attention to what is happening in the world, seek the Lord with all your heart, spend time in your word and in prayer. Prepare your heart and mind for things to come, while we wait, we do not wait in fear, but in faith.
